Abuse Prevention Foundation contributes to annual "Zoo Rendezvous"
Abuse Prevention Foundation will be supporting Hogle Zoo's annual Zoo Rendezvous in 2010. The Abuse Prevention Foundation has donated a golf package which included 4 days, 3 nights at a Mesquite golf course condo, plus 18 holes of golf at Falconridge Golf Course.

Every year Hogle Zoo decorates the park with over one million lights covering the zoo's trees and railings. You can enjoy over 200 animated light displays. There are warming stations and seasonal treats available through out the park. You can enjoy live entertainment and holiday shopping, and weather permitting you can even take a ride on the "Conservation Carousel". The Carousel features 42 beautifully hand-carved animals, each on the endangered species list. The Carousel also is a great example of energy conservation with its power source being solar panels that generate enough electricity to operate the ride and allows it to be emission-free. The funds from the ride are used to support ongoing conservation projects the zoo is involved in.
Zoo Rendezvous The "Zoo Rendezvous" runs through the month of December and ends with a New Years Eve countdown on the final evening. Running December 1st through 31st (closed 12/24 and 12/25), the hours are 5 pm to 9 pm with ticket prices from $3-6. Hogle Zoo is located at 2600 East Sunnyside Avenue Salt Lake City, Utah.
Hogle Zoo History

- In 1931 Hogle Zoo is moved to a donated parcel of land at the mouth of Emigration Canyon where it resides today.
- On May 14th, 1948, "Shasta the Ligress" is born at Hogle Zoo. Shasta was a hybrid cross between a male lion and a female tiger. She was one of the first and only ligers in the country. She set a longevity record and passed away in 1972 at the age of 24.
